Texas Orthopedic Hospital Named Top Performing Hospital in Quality and Safety by The Joint Commission
Houston, TX., September 14, 2011—Texas Orthopedic Hospital (TOH) announces it was named one of the top performers in using evidence-based care processes to improve patient outcomes. One of 405 organizations identified as attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for the full year of 2010 represent approximately 14 percent of Joint Commission-accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals that report core measure performance data.
“Our culture of excellence has set the standard of practice for our surgeons and healthcare team. The culture begins with supportive leadership, a philosophy of quality, individual accountability, and everyday heroes…our surgeons and nursing staff. Our departmental processes are hardwired so that we achieve our goals and daily concurrent reviews are conducted in order to maintain high level of standards, ” says Alice Adams, Chief Executive Officer.
Texas Orthopedic Hospital is a top performer in surgical care and was chosen based on its quality improvement efforts in surgery to create better outcomes for patients and ultimately a healthier community. As a result of hospitals that, like TOH, have used evidence based care processes in surgical care— a tremendous improvement in performance has been measured over the past nine years.
The Joint Commission’s sixth annual report, which presents scientific evidence of hospital performance and how it relates to common medical conditions and procedures, demonstrates continual improvement on accountability measures. The newest data drawn from more than 3,000 accredited hospitals shows that the results of surgical care have improved to 96.4 percent in 2010 up from 82.1 percent in 2005.
“It takes a team of dedicated employees and physicians to achieve outstanding clinical outcomes for all our patients,” states quality director, Veronica Saenz.
Texas Orthopedic Hospital continues to be ranked # 1 for patient satisfaction and service excellence quarter after quarter! This ranking is based on HCAPS and Gallup data. Our #1 ranking encompasses over 200 HCA hospitals and surgery centers nation-wide. "We take considerable pride in the service and attention that we provide to our patients and their family members. Delivering the best possible care is what we communicate every day," states the hospital's CEO, Alice Adams.
