Inpatient physical therapy services
Inpatient physical therapy doesn't have to be overwhelming. We strive to create a comforting and helpful environment, led by a team of experienced therapists with multi-lingual capabilities, including speaking Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi/Urdu, and Gujarati.
Who needs inpatient physical rehabilitation?
Your orthopedic surgeon may request a physical therapist to begin your rehabilitation regimen before you leave the hospital if you are receiving one of the following surgeries:
- Ankle or foot surgeries
- External and internal fixators
- Outpatient procedures
- Shoulder surgeries
- Spine surgery
- Total joint replacement
Once a treatment plan has been established, our team will meet with you for one-on-one care, giving you the confidence to take your first steps towards rehabilitation. This treatment plan may include:
- Assessment for specialty bracing, such as back braces, or ankle foot arthroses (AFOs)
- Assistive device training
- Exercises to promote flexibility and strengthening
- Family training
- Gait analysis for safety and deviation correction
- Home safety assessment
- Mastering postsurgical mobility
- Recommendations for aftercare at home
- Safety guidelines to follow after discharge
- Stair and curb training
- Wheelchair assessments
Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy focuses on successful daily living at home. As such, if you've undergone a major surgery, or have been experiencing a limiting chronic condition, re-learning how to live your life begins here in the hospital. In this pursuit, we may provide you with daily task training and equipment, such as walkers, so you can practice physical therapy on your own. Occupational therapy at our hospital may include:
- Arthritis care
- Bedside therapy
- Custom splints
- Hand, arm and elbow injury treatment
- Overuse and repetitive-related injury treatment
- Postsurgical recovery
- Work and sports-related injury and accident treatment
