Many of our physical therapists are multi-lingual, speaking Spanish, Hindi/Urdu and Malayalam.
Aquatic therapy
Aquatic therapy can be a valuable treatment option if you find land-based therapies difficult, painful or have weight-bearing restrictions. As such, the rehabilitation center at our hospital is home to a specially designed, multi-depth therapeutic pool, where our certified aquatic therapists can utilize exercises and hydrotherapy equipment to facilitate recovery. A chair lift is also available if you require assistance in or out of the pool.
Due to the buoyancy of water, aquatic therapy can enhance the healing process and reduce stress placed on joints and injured soft tissues. It may also be used in conjunction with land-based interventions.
Benefits of aquatic therapy include:
- Decreased swelling of extremities
- Improved balance deficits through the use of turbulence and buoyancy equipment
- Increased range of motion
- More effective strength training
- Optimized spinal alignment
Our aquatic therapists work one-on-one to ensure that each person who attends an aquatic therapy session feels comfortable, even if you are already a strong swimmer.
Occupational therapy
The occupational therapists at our hospital focus on rehabilitation of upper extremity impairments of the hand, wrist and elbow, including carpal tunnel syndrome. Particularly, this specialty focuses on how these conditions affect your ability to accomplish activities of daily living.
Treatment can include:
- Assistive devices
- Custom orthotic splints
- Modalities to reduce pain
- Specialized home exercise programs
- Therapeutic exercise to regain range of motion and strength
