Specialized treatment for bone loss, abnormality and nonunion
As part of the globally-renown Fondren Orthopedic Group, our hospital is led by surgeons who are trained in the most advanced surgical techniques and medical devices available today. This dedication to providing the highest quality care has afforded us numerous awards and recognitions, as well as the ability to effectively treat the following conditions:
- Acute fractures
- Bone infections
- Bowlegs
- Limb abnormalities
- Non-healing fractures
- Nonunion fractures
- Shortened or misshapen bones
One of our most successful methods for treating reconstruction and trauma to the extremities utilizes circular external fixators to stabilize bony segments. This technique requires a series of rings, which are attached to these connectors, while tension wires and pins are affixed to both the bone and external rings. Doing so stabilizes the entire bone, but moving the external rings allows for the precise movement of bone segments throughout the healing process. Once complete, our surgeons can compress, distract or lengthen portions of bone during the course of treatment.
